To make the most of your next visit to the museum with complete peace of mind, find our services and practical advice here.
- Open areas and building works :
The museum’s transformation is ongoing. You can now explore the Romanesque Capital Room, the Darcy Staircase, and the painting and sculpture galleries. Despite the ongoing works, part of the Great Cloister remains accessible. The church and the Gothic galleries will reopen at a later date.
- Ticket office :
Buy your ticket online and enjoy skip-the-queue access at the museum entrance.
- Duration of visit :
Allow 1 to 1½ hours to explore all the open areas.
- Guided tours and educational resources :
Free audio guides are available. In the galleries, a range of resources are on hand to enhance your visit: gallery information sheets, activity sheets, a creative space, educational displays and documents in Easy-to-Read and Easy-to-Understand (FALC) formats. See also our cultural programme.
- Photography and Video :
Photography is permitted without flash or a selfie stick. Any additional equipment (such as tripods) and filming require prior authorisation.
- Artistic practice :
Sketching is permitted within the collections, using dry media (pencils) only. The use of specific equipment (such as an easel) requires authorisation
- Comfort and accessibility :
. Accessible toilets and a nappy-changing table are available for your use.
. Walking sticks, seats and wheelchairs are available to borrow during your visit.
. A pushchair parking area is provided in the cloister on busy days.
- Food and drink :
Apart from breastfeeding and bottle-feeding, food and drink are not permitted in the galleries.
- Relaxation :
Extend your experience at the shop-bookshop-café, the perfect place for a tasty break or a literary discovery at the end of your visit.
