Selected works

The collections of the Musée des Augustins now contain over 4,000 artworks, more or less equally split between paintings and sculptures.

Their quality and variety convey the main chapters in the history of Western art, from the Middle Ages to the first half of the 20th century. The museum holds an unparalleled collection of Romanesque sculpture, a wealth of Gothic masterpieces and an exceptional collection of 19th-century sculptures.
The painting collections are populated with works on long-term loan from France’s national holdings, which have sent masterpieces to the museum, including works by Pérugin, Guerchin, Rubens, Tournier and Delacroix, as well as acquisitions of the City of Toulouse, which comprise works by De Troy, Valenciennes and Corot. And we mustn’t forget the works donated and bequeathed to the museum.
